Bénédicte Forthomme

Background

Bénédicte Forthomme is senior lecturer in the Department of Motricity Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine.
Her doctoral thesis in physiotherapy and readaptation, defended in 2005 at the University of Liège, was on the subject of the isokinetic assessment of the shoulder: methodology and exploration of sporting and pathological groups. Particularly interested in the reeducation of the shoulder and in gaining an understanding of this complex joint, she is the author of a work dedicated to the reasoned reeducation of the shoulder. (Editions Frison Roche, Paris, 3rd  edition in 2009).

Currently, Bénédicte Forthomme is engaged in work on the upper limb, its biomechanics, the muscular and functional characteristics influencing sporting performance and the occurrence of injury. She is author or co-author of numerous national and international publications.

Chief physiotherapist at the Liège University Hospital Centree (Physical Medicine and Physiotherapy Department), she also manages the clinical care of high-level athletes.
