Catherine Mougenot

Background

Catherine Mougenot has a degree in sociology from the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL). In 1973, she was recruited by the Fondation Universitaire Luxembourgeoise (F.U.L.) and worked there on a thesis in environmental sciences entitled "Espace résidentiel - morphologie sociale et stratégie des groupes en milieu rural". Today she teaches and pursues research at the University of Liège as part of the “Socio Economie Environnement et Développement” research unit. She is also a member of the scientific advisory council for Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, and the scientific advisory council from the research programme known as Diva, both sponsored by the French Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development. Her research is focused on the relationship between humans and nature, especially on the relationship with ordinary nature, the outdoor environment in everyday life. She uses a methodological approach based on narration.
