Background

Christophe Dubois is a research assistant at the University of Liège at the Centre for research and Sociological Interventions (CRIS). He is interested in penal policy and organization. He earned a doctorate in sociology from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Paris and from the ULg. He began to study prisons in connection with the study of restorative justice, a concept in criminology intended to redirect the culture of incarceration in Belgian prisons toward a culture of reparation. As a researcher associated with the Centre for the Sociology of Organisations (CNRS, Paris), he took part in the creation of a case study manual entitled "aux frontières de l’organisation : science, marché et professions" (De Boeck, 2010). Finally, as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Edinburgh (2009-2010), he is interested in the translation of discourses about Human Rights and New Public Management into concrete practices in penal systems in Scotland, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
