Background Caroline Piette carried out her studies in medicine at the ULg between 1996 and 2002. She then took up a specialisation in paediatrics in the department of Professor Misson at the Liège CHU. At the same time Caroline Piette obtained in 2003 an FNRS mandate for her research work on MIF-glucocorticoid antagonism in glioblastoma, which she carried out at the Biology of Tumours and Development Laboratory, jointly directed by Professors Agnès Noël and Jean-Michel Foidart. Over the course of the academic year 2008-2009, this young researcher followed a training programme in paediatric oncology, during which she worked at the Institut Gustave Roussy (Villejuif) under the supervision of Dr. Valteau-Couanet, as well as a training programme in paediatric hemato-oncology at the UKLeuven, under the wing of Dr. Anne Uyttebroeck. In September 2009, and for the duration of a year, Caroline Piette joined the EORTC (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer), where she is carrying out research in the fields of child leukaemia and lymphoma.
