Background Didier Serteyn received his degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Liège in 1982. His aggregation thesis, presented in 1989, dealt with post-anaesthetic equine myopathies. Today he is professor of surgery and anaesthesia of large animals. He is also President of the department of clinical sciences of domestic animals and horses. He leads research activities at the Mont-le-Soie European Equine Research Centre, which is funded by the Walloon region and by the Ministry of Agriculture. Professor Serteyn has also been director of the Centre de l’Oxygène, Recherche et Développement (CORD), since 2007.
