Jean Beaufays

Background

Jean Beaufays is a Doctor in political and diplomatic sciences and a Professor Emeritus at the University of Liège. He has taught, in particular, the parliamentary history of Belgium, political sciences, political doctrines, international relations, the theory of federalism and the United States’ international relations, of which he is an acute connoisseur. He is the cofounder of the Fédéralisme-Régionalisme journal and the author of numerous books and articles on the themes of federalism, regionalism and Belgian politics, to which he has devoted a number contributions to the media. Beyond a very rich academic career, Jean Beaufays has also presided over the Belgian Association for the United Nations, which makes every effort to promote its ideals. He has also organised educational programmes at university level for Walloon province and local authority government officials, an arena for exchange and reflection appreciated by the practitioners of the ‘affairs of the nation’
