Jean-Marie Gauthier is a child psychiatrist and a doctor in clinical psychology. He graduated from medical school in 1975 and decided to study for a PhD in clinical psychology several years later, at the University of Paris 7, which he terminated in 1992. A lecturer in child and adolescent psychology at the University of Liège since October 2002, Jean-Marie Gauthier became a professor on 1st January 2007, at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at the University of Liège. Since 1st January 2006, Professor Gauthier has also been responsible for the children’s psychiatric unit at the Citadelle regional hospital in Liège. He also takes part in training activities, and the supervision and management of research groups at the International Centre for Research in Psychosomatics in Paris. This psychoanalyst is particularly interested in the contribution of ethology to the psychology and the psychopathology of children.
